Whitson’s Gessaux is a clay and acrylic high build coating that can be used as a base for gilding and metal leaf applications. Gessaux is similar in usage to liquid casein products, however a liquid casein requires the use of a harmful preservative which Gessaux doesn’t need.
Gessaux quickly builds in a similar way to traditional Gesso and can be sanded, burnished and carved into easily. It can be applied direct to wood or other supports including many painted substrates.
Gessaux is available in seven colours:
White
Black
Yellow
Blue
Yellow Ochre
Brown
