The Marbled Coloured Silver Leaf is created using the same technique as the pigment coloured silver leaf but is created in a way to make the coloured silver leaf to appear more natural and for the texture to look like stone This will give the leaf a colourful and rich finish in a range of bright colours. The coloured Marbled silver leaf is often used to create various types of artworks including glass gilding and interior art works.
The Marbled Coloured silver leaf is created using a spirit-based dye and this helps to create the natural look of fading on the leaf. Marbled Coloured silver leaf is also less fragile than the pigment coloured silver leaf
The dye will give the leaf a colourful and rich finish in a range of bright colours. The coloured Marbled silver leaf is often used to create various types of artworks including glass gilding and interior paints
The leaf measures 109mm x 109mm and is supplied in various quantities of up to 50 loose leaves with each of the leaves being separated by tissue paper.
The coloured silver may fade if it is not sealed correctly, it can also fade if it is not protected from UV light. In order to protect the colour of the pigment coloured silver leaf over time a sealer should be used
If the silver leaf is exposed to any friction, then there is a chance that this could chip away at the dye resulting in the leaf to dull in colour. The coloured silver is more fragile than standard silver leaf and will need to be handled with care in order to prevent any damage. No alcohol-based sealants should be used on the leaf as this may dissolve some of the coating on the dye.
