Wrights of Lymm was establisted in 1840 by William Wright in Bridge Street, Manchester, along side other gold leaf manufacturers. In 1910 William re-located to Lymm due to the calibre of staff required for this business.
Charles Frederick Stonehouse started as a Goldleaf manufacturer in 1936 and was trained by Smiths in Manchester, and was the works manager with George Whileys in Scotland.
In 1980 Charles Frederick Stonehouse returned to Manchester and formed a new gold-leaf manufacturing company with his family and located the company in Lymm due to the reputation of the workforce.
The two companies merged in 1993, and is still run as a family business, based on traditional practises and modern technology.
